GCAI 2017: Editor's Preface

 

This volume contains the papers presented at GCAI 2017: the 3rd Global Conference on Artificial Intelligence, held from 18th October to 22nd October, at the AC Marriott Hotel, South Beach, Miami, USA.

The GCAI 2017 program committee consisted of 52 experts from 23 countries. The program committee chairs were Christoph Benzmüller (FU Berlin, Germany), Christine Lisetti (Florida International University, USA), and Martin Theobald (University of Luxembourg, Luxembourg). Each submission to GCAI 2017 was reviewed by 3 reviewers. 18 submissions were accepted as full papers and 4 submissions were accepted as short papers for poster presentation. 

The conference featured the following invited talks:

  • Marijn Heule (University of Texas at Austin, USA): Everything's Bigger in Texas: "The Largest Math Proof Ever"
  • Catherine Pelachaud, (CNRS-ISIR, University Pierre and Marie Curie, France): Modelling Conversing Social Agents
  • Guy Van den Broeck (University of California Los Angeles, USA): Open-World Probabilistic Databases

The conference also offered tutorials on topics in automated reasoning and affective computing.

GCAI 2017 was organized by the University of Miami, USA, with local organization by Geoff Sutcliffe. The submission, program committee work, proceedings editing, registration, and conference web generation were done using EasyChair. The proceedings of GCAI 2017 are published in the EasyChair EPiC Series in Computing.

GCAI 2017 is the third LRG (Linking Research Globally) conference. LRG's mission is to bring together researchers worldwide to discuss advances in science, engineering, and technology. It aims at organizing conferences all over the world, where researchers from different countries and backgrounds can meet. The LRG Steering Committee is:
