Notably, metal additive manufacturing (3D metal printing) has emerged as an optimal solution, offering design flexibility and mechanical properties comparable to those of metal products produced by traditional methods. However, the high investment costs associated with this technology have limited the use of 3D metal printers to industrial scales, creating significant barriers for domestic research and experimentation. In response to the need for a laboratory-scale device to support research, our team has conducted an in-depth study of the technology and undertaken this paper with the objective of designing a feeder unit—a key component of 3D metal printers. The result is a feeder unit employing a wiper blade mechanism, designed with calculations for parameters affecting metal powders, TPU, PA11, and other materials (with PA11 plastic used as the main material).
