Special Session ITaNT´24- Industrial Tourism and New Technologies is a Special session at The 6th International Conference on Tourism Technology & Systems (ICOTTS´24) a multidisciplinary conference, transversal to all the activity sectors that involve Information Technologies and systems in the Tourism area, namely: Competitiveness of destinations based on digital technology, Hospitality, Destinations Management, Business & Finance, Public Administration; Economics; Management Science; Education; Health & Rehabilitation; Agriculture & Food Technology.
Industrial tourism, characterized by visits to factories, manufacturing plants, and industrial sites, has emerged as a distinct and increasingly popular niche within the broader tourism industry. The intersection of industrial tourism and new technologies presents an intriguing area of exploration. The potential of these advancements to enhance visitor experiences, promote industrial heritage preservation, and stimulate local economies is captivating.
Moreover, the rise of digital platforms and mobile applications has democratized access to industrial tourism experiences, allowing visitors to plan, customize, and enhance their trips with ease. Online booking platforms, interactive maps, and multimedia guides provide visitors with real-time information, navigation assistance, and multimedia content, enriching their journeys and facilitating self-guided exploration of industrial sites.
The integration of data analytics, IoT (Internet of Things), and smart technologies holds immense promise for enhancing the operational efficiency and sustainability of industrial tourism sites. By leveraging real-time data insights, industrial facilities can optimize visitor flows, resource allocation, and environmental management practices, ensuring a seamless and eco-friendly visitor experience. In the realm of industrial tourism and new technologies, the focus lies on enhancing visitor experiences, advocating for the preservation of industrial heritage, and nurturing sustainable tourism development.
Collaborations with industry stakeholders, policymakers, and technology providers are essential to identify innovative solutions, best practices, and forthcoming trends that will influence the trajectory of industrial tourism in the digital era. Through interdisciplinary research and knowledge exchange, the goal is to contribute to the progression of industrial tourism as a dynamic and immersive avenue for cultural exploration and economic rejuvenation.
This ICOTTS session is focused on sharing and discussing all aspects concerning the Industrial Tourism and New Technologies.
