Introduction for Call for Papers – ILCC 2026
The Indian Lean Construction Conference 2026 (ILCC 2026) invites researchers, practitioners, industry leaders, policymakers, and students to contribute to the evolving dialogue on Lean Construction in India and beyond. Organised under the aegis of the Institute for Lean Construction Excellence (ILCE) and hosted by the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, ILCC 2026 continues the legacy of bringing together academia and industry to advance collaborative, efficient, and value-driven construction practices.
Since its establishment in 2008, ILCE has played a pivotal role in promoting Lean Construction across India through conferences, workshops, training programmes, site-based implementation initiatives, and engagement with leading national and international experts. The Indian Lean Construction Conference has emerged as a key platform for sharing research, case studies, innovations, and practical experiences that support the transformation of the construction sector.
The theme of ILCC 2026, “Beyond Efficiency: The Future of Lean Construction for a Digital and Sustainable Industry,” reflects the need to move beyond traditional productivity improvement and explore how Lean principles can enable a more resilient, technology-enabled, collaborative, and sustainable built environment. As the construction industry faces increasing pressures related to cost, time, quality, safety, sustainability, and digital transformation, Lean Construction offers a powerful framework to rethink project delivery, improve workflow reliability, reduce waste, enhance stakeholder collaboration, and create long-term value.
ILCC 2026 welcomes original research papers, industry case studies, conceptual frameworks, implementation experiences, and technology-enabled solutions related to Lean Construction and its integration with digital technologies, sustainability, project management, supply chains, safety, quality, and infrastructure delivery. The conference aims to foster meaningful exchange between researchers and practitioners and to support the wider adoption of Lean thinking across the Indian and global construction ecosystem.
