The University of Hong Kong and the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB) are excited to invite you to the International Conference on Genome Informatics ISCB-Asia (GIW XXXIV ISCB-Asia VIII), taking place 11-13 December 2025 in Hong Kong.
GIW began over 30 years ago as the Genome Informatics Workshop in Japan and has since grown into a premier international conference in the field. With a strong focus on genome informatics, the conference spans all areas of bioinformatics and medical informatics, bridging theoretical computer science and real-world applications.
ISCB-Asia continues to promote computational biology worldwide, bringing together ISCB's global perspective with Asia's dynamic regional communities. This year, GIW XXXIV ISCB-Asia VIII will serve as a powerful platform to explore cutting-edge advancements in computational biology, health informatics, and biomedical data science.
Submission Guidelines
GIW/ISCB-Asia 2025 welcomes abstract submissions featuring research at the forefront of bioinformatics and computational biology. We encourage the submission of original work, whether it is in progress or has been previously published within the last 18 months, for consideration for oral and/or poster presentation. Adding references to already published papers is recommended where appropriate.
All presentations are categorized based on scientific topics, ensuring a cohesive organization of talks and posters. Please ensure that your abstract communicates a scientific result and refrains from serving as an advertisement for any commercial software package or products.
For a variety of reasons, ISCB/GIW strongly prefers that scientific research accepted for oral presentation be presented in-person at the conference venue. We understand that some presenters will have valid reasons to avoid in-person attendance. ISCB will grant remote presentation options for reasons associated with maternity/paternity leave, care for a family member, personal/medical disability, sickness, financial hardship, or potential visa problems. If your research is accepted for oral presentation and you are unable to present in person, ISCB/GIW requires notification at the time of acceptance and no later than November 1, 2025. You will be asked during your confirmation of participation to confirm your in-person participation. If unable to participate you will need to request a waiver by writing presentationwaiver@iscb.org
Abstracts for Oral Presentation or Poster
The presenter should be identified during the submission process. Presenters of accepted abstracts are required to make the presentation themselves, and must register and pay to attend the conference.
Submitters may choose to have their submission reviewed for: (i) talk only, (ii) talk and poster or (iii) poster only. If you select talk and poster, and are unsuccessful for a talk, your abstract will automatically be considered for a poster presentation. Submissions must be received by September 29, 2025.
Participants who opt for (i) talk only or (ii) talk and poster are required to submit: Both a 200-word abstract to be posted on the conference website AND a long abstract of up to two (2) pages in PDF format, to provide additional details including figures and graphics that support the main points of the abstract. Do not submit more than two pages.
Participants who opt for (iii) poster only are required to submit: A 200-word abstract to be posted on the conference website.
The 200-word abstract should be a brief and concise summary of the background/motivation for the study, method and result (s), as well as a conclusion/statement of significance. The abstract is submitted through the EasyChair submission system. Accepted abstracts (maximum 200 words) will be posted on the conference website. Your abstract must not contain your title/position or any personal information (e.g. affiliation). These details will be collected through the EasyChair submission system.
All abstracts must be submitted using the conference submission site by the abstract deadline: September 29, 2025.
In-Person Poster Hall: When preparing accepted posters please note that your printed poster should not exceed the following dimensions: 46 inches wide by 46 inches high. There will be 1 or 2 poster per side on the each poster board. Additionally, we ask that you also follow the Virtual Poster Hall information below in addition to your in-person presentation. This ensures all posters are viewable to both in-person and virtual attendees thus providing more exposure to your work.
Virtual Poster Hall: When preparing accepted posters please note that your poster will need to be uploaded via the virtual platform portal in two formats - a PDF of the poster and a 5-7 minute flash talk video not to exceed 100MB. Poster portal information will be sent to all approved posters closer to the conference and after the notification deadline. All presentations MUST be uploaded on specific dates the week of April 1st*. More specific dates will be given closer to the conference.
*Late Breaking posters will have a very short turn-around.
